An exact copy of the icon of the Theotokos Galaktotrophousa from the Holy Monastery of Hilandar on Mount Athos. According to tradition, this icon was originally from the Lavra of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified in Jerusalem. Before Saint Sabbas died, he prophesied that a royal child of Serbia, who would also be named Sabbas, would visit the Lavra one day. So he left as his final testament that this icon should be given to him as a blessing. And, indeed, the prophecy came true in the 13th century, when Saint Sabbas of Serbia, the founder of the Monastery of Hilandar, visited the Lavra. He brought the holy icon with him to Mount Athos, and he placed it on the iconostasis to the right of the Royal Doors, in the place where the icon of Christ would usually stand.
