Saint Iakovos Tsalikis was born on November 5th, 1920 AD in Livisi of Asia Minor. At the beginning of his monastic life, he took on obedience as his inviolable principle, and he never did anything without the blessing of his abbot. In addition, God honoured Saint Iakovos with the great gift of the priesthood. He lived in holiness for almost forty years at the Monastery of Saint David in Evia, having previously lived “according to the Gospel” in the world for thirty-two years. He devoted himself to the Lord, maintaining the same desire for asceticism from his youth until old age. Even the mere presence of the Saint, simply to look upon him, was a blessing from God, a revelation of the divine energies and the presence of God on earth. Worthy of his admirable life was his holy repose in the Lord, which he knew of ahead of time. At the Monastery of Saint David, there have been recorded at least three hundred testimonies from the faithful, regarding healings, miraculous interventions or posthumous appearances of the Saint. His memory is honoured on the 21st of November. This original icon was painted on Mt. Athos, by the monks of the Holy Koutloumousian Cell of Saint John the Theologian.
