Saint Nikodemos was born on Naxos in 1749 AD to pious and virtuous parents. In 1775 he went to Mount Athos and became a monk in the Monastery of Dionysiou. The Fathers of the Monastery, recognizing his great natural and acquired gifts, appointed him a reader and secretary of the Monastery. He then retired to a cell, where he studied ardently and wrote many theological books, among which the "Synaxaristis", "Eortodromion", "New Ladder", "Invisible War" and many more. After various adventures, he died of hemiplegia in 1809 in the cell of Skourtaea, in Karyes. He was buried there, leaving behind a large body of spiritual writings, which today are a treasure for the people of the Orthodox Church. His memory is commemorated on July 14.
