Saint Triantaphyllos was born in Zagora of Magnesia in 1663 AD. From a young age, he worked as a sailor on one of the renowned ships of Zagora. In the summer of 1680, his boat docked in the port of Constantinople. There, Triantaphyllos visited the many churches and holy springs of the City. For a reason unknown to us, he entered into a dispute with some Turk, who slandered him, saying that he supposedly desired to become a Muslim. Triantaphyllos, however, denied that this was true, remaining firm and steadfast in his faith. He received his crown of martyrdom on the 8th of August 1680 AD in the hippodrome of Constantinople at the age of only 18 years old. Work of the iconographer Vasileios Theodorakakos.
