This collection of icons belongs to the period of Post-Byzantine Art, dating back to the 18th century. They are ideal for completing a series of icons showing the Twelve Feasts or for individual use. In the icon of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, Mount Tabor is shown. On the mountain peak stands the Lord shining in red, luminous glory, clothed brilliantly with white golden vestments. On His right and left hand, on the other two mountain peaks, we see the Prophet Elias and the Prophet Moses conversing reverently with Christ. In the bottom half of the icon, we see the three disciples who witnessed the miraculous event: Peter, James and John. They have fallen on the ground and are covering their faces before the dazzling radiance of the divine glory. The Transfiguration is celebrated on August 6th.
