An exact copy of the famous icon from the Holy Monastery of Karakallou on Mount Athos. In this particular icon, the full figures of both Saints are depicted. The Apostles Peter and Paul were two of the main figures and founders of our Church. They had a great influence on the formulation of its teaching. They are celebrated together on the 29th of June.

Icon with water-gilding on natural linden wood. The wood has been prepared in heat and gilded with gold leaf 24K, in accordance with traditional Byzantine techniques. The icon has been painted with egg-tempera paints for best performance and endurance of colors used. The colors were chosen based on studies and analyses of older icons by renowned iconographers, after ARTIS had first conducted conservation treatments on them.

An exact copy of the famous icon from the Holy Monastery of Karakallou on Mount Athos. In this particular icon, the full figures of both Saints are depicted. The Apostles Peter and Paul were two of the main figures and founders of our Church. They had a great influence on the formulation of its teaching. The two Apostles each had their own paths and careers, but they had the same goal of spreading Christianity. In the Orthodox Church, they are often depicted together, in a number of symbolic scenes, which express the ecumenical peace and unity of the Churches. This depiction of the Embrace of Saints Peter and Paul, either as an “historically” verified meeting of the two chief Apostles in Rome, or as a symbolic representation, was popular from a very early age in the Church and can be found in various forms in Byzantine Art. They are celebrated together on the 29th of June.
