After the early death of her husband, Saint Theodora decided to embrace the monastic life at the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephen in Thessaloniki. She reposed peacefully, and later myrrh was found streaming from the oil lamp over her tomb, which granted healing to many with grave illnesses. Her memory is honoured on the 5th of April and the 3rd of August.

Saint Theodora was born in Aegina in 812 AD to pious parents. At a young age, she was engaged to a much sought-after young man on the island. After an invasion of the island by the Saracens, Theodora and her fiancée fled to Thessaloniki for refuge. After their wedding, they had a daughter together, Theopiste, whom they decided to dedicate to the Holy Monastery of Saint Luke. Her husband, however, became sick and died when Theodora was only 25 years old. Subsequently, she decided to embrace the monastic life at the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephen in Thessaloniki. She reposed peacefully in 893 AD. The lamp hanging above her tomb would stream myrrh and grant healing to many sickness. For this reason, she was also given the name “Myrrh-Streamer”. In 893 AD, she was uninterred and her holy body was found to be incorrupt and giving off a beautiful fragrance.
