The Apostle Peter followed Christ faithfully throughout the three years of His public life, except for a single moment of weakness when he denied Him with his words. His preaching on the day of Pentecost brought three thousand souls to belief in Christ and Holy Baptism. In this way, the historical Church of Christ was founded on earth. The Apostle Peter wrote two Catholic Epistles and preached the Word of God in many places. When he came to his martyrdom, he asked to be crucified upside down. His holy memory is celebrated together with that of the Apostle Paul on the 29th of June.
