In ARTIS Gilding & Restoring workshops, the preparation of wooden hagiographic surfaces is an important part of production and requires a process of many technical stages.
Each stage is carried out with great care, faithfully following traditional Byzantine techniques and recipes and is done in completely controlled conditions of a stable environment.
Selection of materials, cutting of wood, creation and application of putty mixture are some of the stages that require strict consistency and thorough controls,
to ensure a guaranteed result and durability over time.
ARTIS Gilding & Restoring in the context of preparation of Stuccoed Hagiography Woods proposes stuccoed wooden surfaces, flat or dug from natural wood (linden) but also sea plywood in many dimensions.
